Nappuccino [nap-puh-cheen-oh]

  • real nappies, coffee and cake, usually mixed with toys, Lego, glue and glitter!

Next Nappuccino is on Wednesday 7th July- 10am - 12 noon in the Scout Hut, South Lawn Terrace, Exeter All welcome - see you there...

July's Heavitree Nappuccino was great, there were some big bumps and some very new babies! Trial nappy kits were dished out by my able assistant Nicole! (thanks hon!) and kits came back as planned with mums happily converting to cloth nappies as a result of the trial.

Nicky Bowman who heads up the Devon Real Nappy Project was on hand to answer recycling questions and Kim Spearey our local Breastfeeding Peer Supporter was on hand to help with breastfeeding questions and as usual I'm amazingly thankful to the Whiffin family who help me get the toys out of the shed and then put them back in again!

It's great that so many people are finding that cloth nappies is not just a middle class lifestyle choice - it's a way of saving money and the planet! Come along and see for yourself!

It's all funded by the Devon Real Nappy Project who have given me 11 trial nappy kits for people to use at home. The kits contain everything you need to try real nappies. Lots of different fabrics and shapes, a bucket, cloth wipes and some paper liners. You really can try before you buy.

I love showing people how easy real nappies are, once the myth of boil washing and pins has been dispelled - everyone can see it's just like washing another item of clothing.

Fleece nappies dry really quickly and there are some 'All in One' nappies which are just like washing a disposable nappy. It's not hard! and can save you loads of money. The environmental impact is huge, 9 million nappies go into landfill EVERY DAY. Thats 1 nappy in a hole in the ground every 1.1 seconds in Devon alone - frightening.

I always have bits and bobs for sale on the day (liners, wipes and wraps) click here for my price list there are often some secondhand things too - any profits from these go back into the DRNP.

See you there!
